Our Story
Behind the Glass
Hoffmann Lock & Glass LLC is more than just a business; it’s a legacy of craftsmanship and dedication passed down through generations. The story begins with Richard Hoffmann and his wife, Marilyn who moved from Schiller Park, Illinois, to Silver Lake, Wisconsin. There, they purchased a hardware store and transformed it into a reliable hometown fixture in the community. They raised three children: Richard, Gary, and Dave.
In the late 1970s, Richard P. Hoffmann AKA Rick, their eldest son, was approached by Bill Carr of Westosha Lock and Glass. Bill, having grown fond of Richard’s work ethic and dedication, offered him the opportunity to purchase his lock and glass business. Rick seized this opportunity and purchased the business in 1977, starting operations in the basement of the hardware store.
As the business grew, it moved to the garage behind Miles Truck Repair. By 1983, Richard had negotiated land from a local real estate developer, allowing him to build the current establishment. Over the years, the company expanded its services and added storage units, always maintaining a focus on quality work and exceptional customer experience.
Today, Rick and Cindy Hoffmann serve as Managing Members of the company, each playing vital roles in its operations. Rick handles estimates and oversees various aspects of the business, and his wife, Cindy, takes care of the bookkeeping. Their children, Richard (who also goes by Rich), Jennifer, and Christina, are proud to be part of the Hoffmann family legacy. Meanwhile, Rich oversees installations, orders, and the day-to-day operations. He and his wife, Laurie Hoffmann, manage phone calls, orders, invoicing, and other office tasks while raising their three beautiful children. Together, they are all proud to carry on the family tradition of excellence and service.
